Hi there,
Wherever you are in your career, chances are you’ve hit a bump—or you're navigating one right now.
Our 2 members who joined us this week - Nina and Ana — Welcome to Rethink & ReAlign - a community for human-centric leaders to lead with intention, cut through the noise, and gain clarity on what matters most.
Careers aren’t linear anymore. They’re more like jungle gyms. Or, as I like to call them—squiggly.
As we move through different life stages, our careers evolve. They shift shape. They demand identity resets. And in turn, we change.
When I left my full-time corporate role at McKinsey, I faced a question I had never truly considered:
“Who am I without a title?”
That moment sparked a deeper inquiry into career identity—and how much weight we unknowingly attach to it.
The path since then has been filled with reflection, recalibration, and lots of unlearning. But also, surprising joy.
Not the kind that comes from promotions but the kind that grows from within, when your work feels like you.
True growth isn’t just climbing a ladder—it’s asking: How am I growing through the role I’m in? And how can I shape it to reflect who I am becoming?
We rarely pause to ask these questions—until life makes us. A job loss. Burnout. Parenthood. Relocation. Health challenges. Major transitions often become the turning points.
But what if we didn’t wait?
What if we started reconnecting with the joy in our career and navigating with intention—before the pivot?
That’s where your Career Compass comes in — a tool for building greater clarity and career resilience. It’s a personal North Star to help you embrace the unknown and reach your highest potential.
By strengthening this muscle, you’ll be better equipped to navigate uncertainty and change. It’s not one-size-fits-all.
Here are five lenses that have guided me — shaped by my own experiences and the lessons I’ve learned from clients.
1. Career Impact
What do I want to contribute? What values drive me, and how can I align my work to those?
2. Skills-First Thinking
What skills do I want to deepen—not just for now, but as lifelong assets?
3. Industry Curiosity
Which industries spark my interest? Where do I want to grow—not just vertically, but meaningfully?
4. Mentors & Coaches
Who expands my thinking? Who sees potential I haven’t yet named in myself?
5. Give It Forward
How can I give back—to my community, my field, and the people coming up behind me?
Navigating a squiggly career isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about asking better questions.
So—what’s your compass pointing to right now?
Today, I will leave you with the song Believe by Fearless Soul which has been my favourite to navigate squiggly careers.
